I've had a lot of massages and I'm a big fan of the leading Australian-based spa brand LI'TYA, and I'm happy to discover that eforea: spa at Hilton picked LI'TYA products out of a range of contenders for many of their treatments.
The only other products to make the grade were also proudly Australian-made, by VitaMan. Both LI'TYA and VitaMan utlise native plant extracts and claim to adhere to ancient Aboriginal principals.
As I'm a man – and men make up a large percentage of people who stay at Hilton Hotels and Resorts around the world – I've opted for the eforea Signature Three-Part Recharging Massage, using VitaMan products. It's one of 'the men's journey' treatments on offer.
Apparently, you can't get any of the treatments on the extensive eforea spa menu anywhere else – so here goes...
It starts off with a warm bamboo massage, meant to release tight muscles as my masseuse rolls the stems firmly over my back and legs. A deep muscle massage, using Swedish and stretching techniques - with oil smelling of cinnamon and citrus - follows. This effectively removes the tension from my back, shoulders and neck. Then comes a full body massage, including a scalp massage.
I leave exceptionally relaxed, and the pleasant scent of the oils left on my body stay with me for the rest of the day.
Many men are a bit daunted by the thought of a luxury massage, but I recommend this one whole-heartedly. It's strong enough to make you feel as if your muscles have had a good going over, yet the masseuse's hands flicker and sweep across your body with a welcome delicacy from time to time too.
eforea: spa at Hilton offers a range of treatments for both men and women, including the very popular Signature Correcting Facial. This includes a deep cleansing massage, a hydrating peel-off masque, and an acupressure scalp massage. This is followed by a cooling eye and face treatment.
Others that grabbed my attention included a Meditation Massage, a tandem massage (involving two therapists), and an All-Over Detox.
The spa at Hilton on the Park Melbourne features six treatment rooms, eforea arrival and transition lounges, a fitness centre, pool and thermal pods. The spa at Hilton Surfers Paradise has seven treatment rooms including a contemporary Vichy Shower (wet room) and two double rooms for couples.
The spa at Hilton Queenstown has 10 treatment rooms, including a couples room, a gym, steam room, sauna and 25-metre pool. The opulent facility flows seamlessly over three levels, linked by a grand spiral staircase.
